It is the first week in September….
…. Another academic year is about to start. The Pimm’s has now been shuffled away to the back of the cupboard. The (non-chemically-assisted) tan has all but faded. The (very successful) village fete is over for another year. There is, as yet, no wood-smoke to signal-by-scent the changing of the season – but it will not be long. And, irrespective of one’s politics, there is an imperceptible pulse of melancholy as the year heads to shorter days and colder nights.
But worry not. The Fund-raising team – and the Fund-raising ‘Ambassadors’ – have been busy, organising a number of fun, high-energy events to vapourise those early autumnal blues, with more details to follow over the next few weeks.
The first event, although not blues, is close – with Jazz. So sashay on down – with as many friends as you can muster – to the Church on Friday 20th September to listen to the internationally-acclaimed jazz trio REDENHAM JAZZ, recently back from a sell-out tour in New Orleans. Doors creak open at 7pm – with the lights dimming and the first set starting at 7.30pm. Granted the venue is not quite as louche as Ronnie Scott’s – but one can but try; and it will be an entertaining evening as well as a great way of starting the weekend.
Tickets are £6 on the door – which includes a drink and some eats.
